These Handlebars may look unconventional but the bottom line is that they flat out provide better handling and more comfort than a traditional bar. A wide range of better hand and body positions ensure more power, comfort and control. 45 degrees of sweep puts your wrists in a natural and relaxed position for lasting comfort.
The Jones H-Bars are the perfect upgrade for a bikepacking, touring, mountain, road, gravel, commuting, city, or just about any other type of bike! They're also a great replacement for drop bars with more hand positions, comfort, control, and provide more bag and light mounting locations!
The front loop of the bar provides several hand positions and mounting locations for bike computers, lights, GPS devices, sports action cameras and the Jones Gnarwal. This bar provides comfort and power with an impressive weight. The long grip area paired with Jones long Grips provide a wide range of hand and body positions, from fully upright at the ends of the grips, to a tucked aero position when resting your forearms across the crossbar and front loop. In between these extremes, there are many unique and useful positions, making this a true multi-position bar because you'll actually find yourself using all of the positions! The most rearward hand position allows for extra leverage and a wider hand placement - be it for comfort or power.
Jeff has heard from a lot of riders who need to get their bars higher in order to get more comfort and control, and while Jeff’s framesets and bikes make this easy, many riders are installing H-Bars on other brands of bikes with a normal, lower stack height with a lower overall intended bar height. For them, and everyone else who wants to get their bars higher, we have the Butted 2.5 Aluminum Loop H-Bar! Think of the 2.5” as an alternative to a 2" stack of headset spacers combined with a standard .5”/13mm rise H-Bar. This H-Bar is essentially a butted loop H-Bar with 2.5" of rise compared to the standard .5" of rise on all of the other H-Bars which makes it ideal for bikes with front ends that are too low. Do you have a bike with a short head tube? Your back and neck want this bar! Are you wondering if it's safe to install a steerer tube extender on a steerer tube? Get this H-Bar and you won't need to find out. Having this higher handlebar with more hand positions will make you much more comfortable.
Also a great bar on a Jones Bike for the rider who wants maximum handlebar height!
Jones aluminum H-Bars come in two tubing types; butted or straight gauge (SG). Our butted H-bars are double butted meaning the tubing has two different thicknesses, thicker at the joints for strength and thinner elsewhere to reduce weight. Straight gauge tubing is the same thickness throughout which reduces cost but increases weight.
The Jones Butted 2.5 Aluminum Loop H-Bar shares the same comfortable 45 degree sweep and standard 22.2mm grip area diameter for flat bar/mountain bike controls as with the rest of the H-Bars. The entire front loop has a 22.2mm diameter.
We get a lot of questions about whether this H-Bar will work with the Loophole H-Bar Pack and H-Bar pack, and the answer is yes! The pack fits less tightly, and will be tilted on this H-Bar, but from our experience, it works just fine.
